Anyone looking for a beefy RPG at a discounted price can check out this deal for Tokyo Xanadu eX+ on Switch, as the action RPG is currently available for just $40 at Amazon and Best Buy. Normally $50, the game comes from Aksys Games and Falcom, the same publisher behind the beloved Ys and Trails series.
Tokyo Xanadu originally launched as a Japan-exclusive PlayStation Vita game that later received an enhanced port and localization titled Tokyo Xanadu eX+ on PS4 in 2017, then finally a Switch release earlier this year. The game is an action RPG dungeon crawler set in near-future of Tokyo, Japan after an earthquake opens a link to the shadowy Eclipse realm and high schooler Kou Tokisaka and his classmates are tasked with saving the city. The game is an enhanced port of the Tokyo Xanadu eX+ features improved visuals, new story content, and several welcome quality-of-life updates to the gameplay.
While the Switch version is the latest version of the game, you can also grab the PS4 version for just $20 at GameStop or $24 at Amazom.

If you’re a fan of Falcom’s work, you can also check out PC discounts for the popular Trails and Ys games at Fanatical. Trails–aka the Legend of Heroes–is made up of smaller sub-series like Trails of Cold Steel, Trails from Zero, and Trails into Reverie that all form a larger overarching plot chronicling the wars and socio-political events of the fantasy world Zemuria. It’s a big saga, but you can dive in thanks to big price cuts to several games in the series, including the most recent entry, Trails Through Daybreak, which launched back in July and is down to $48 (normally $60). This game kicks off a new arc following a new protagonist, making it a great choice for new players.
A few of the most recent Ys games are also on sale, including Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana for $14 (was $40), which sees series protagonist Adol shipwrecked on a mysterious island. Its sequel, Ys IX: Mostrum Nox, is down to $30 (was $60) and follows Adol on a new quest to against shadowy forces invading from another realm. And while it’s not on sale, you can grab the latest entry that launched just a few weeks ago, Ys X: Nordics, for $60.

Falcom Physical Edition Games
While Fanatical’s sale can save you quite a bit of cash on the on the digital PC versions of Falcom’s games, the physical editions are also worth checking out since they often come with extras like collectibles, art prints, soundtrack CDs, and more. Several of the deluxe editions of Ys and Legend of Heroes games are still available alongside upcoming releases. The upcoming remake Ys Memoire: The Oath of Felghana looks like a nice option ahead of its January 2025 release as you’re getting a diorama set, postcards, and a CD soundtrack with it, and in February 2025, The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak II will include a mini art book and digital soundtrack download code in its deluxe edition.
